Used duvet cover. Since we at Pleasant do not want to buy new textiles, all of our Oahu shirts are upcycled*.

What is upcycling?

Upcycling means taking an existing textile product and turning it into a new one of higher value. Our Oahu shirts are made from used duvet covers that have already been through one or more life cycles. The material requires no post-processing and can be made directly into shirts. It emits at least 4 times less CO2 and saves large amounts of water and chemicals.

But most importantly, with minimal need for new textiles*, we can propose that textile agriculture be converted to more appropriate crops and wild nature.

* Our sewing thread is still made from new textile.
